Why are people being so lenient on the captured pirate?

It is because America must be "politically correct"... never mind the fact that this involves ignoring the fact that each individual must compromise their own morals and forget what they beleive... its pretty much illegal to offend anyone, even if that person has done wrong and has no respect for us... im a bit disappointed too.
