What social effects might probes from other worlds have on us?

it would be a surprise, i,m sure. the government would keep itt a secret, as that,s how all governments deal with anything. many religions would see it as the antichrist, etc., as it would displace a number of long held religious theories. many people would see it as an end of times scenario. i would wonder if it was scouting us for an interstellar version of kentucky fried chicken.
